In recent years, Marshall has released a wide range of wireless speakers modeled after its iconic guitar amplifiers. They have a faux leather finish, tactile brass control knobs and the British hi-fi maker’s iconic logo right in the center of the grille …. but they’re smaller and support new-age streaming capabilities.

Case and point, the Acton III. It’s the smallest speaker in the brand’s line of powered Bluetooth speakers for the home. And it’s been around for several years. But now Marshall has introduced a new colorway that makes this vintage-inspired speaker look even cooler.

Since its release in 2022, Marshall has offered the Acton III in several different faux leather finishes, including black, cream, brown and midnight blue. But now it has added a fresh new finish to the mix: burgundy.

According to the brand, the burgundy finish was inspired by the velvet lining of guitar cases and the color of old-school stage curtains. This, combined with the golden grille and brass control knobs, gives this newest Acton III a real old-school charm.

Same vintage charm and sound

Aside from the new look, it’s the same Acton III speaker that was released in 2022. It packs three individually amplified drivers, one 30-watt woofer and two 15-watt tweeters, and plays true stereo sound.

On top, there are tactile control knobs and switches for controlling playback and adjusting EQ settings.

On top of the speaker are bass, tremble, and volume dials for customizing the sound. It works with a companion app, too, which lets you update the speaker and further fine-tune audio settings.

Unlike a lot of today’s wireless home speakers, the Acton III only supports streaming over Bluetooth — it lacks any kind of Wi-Fi streaming capabilities. It does have a 3.5mm auxiliary input for wired sources.

Price and availability

Marshall’s Acton III speaker in the new burgundy finish is available now from the company’s website. It costs $300, which is the exact same price as other Acton III models.
