The 2020 Formula 1 season is finally underway — albeit with some unusual touches, like isolated personnel bubbles and mandatory face coverings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff may have home the crown for most distinctive protective wear, but the Ferrari and McLaren teams also stood out; they were sporting some particularly fashionable (and comfortable-looking masks) from Italian company U-Mask.
The mask, in case you were wondering, is the U-Mask Model 2. The face-covering features a four-layer, replaceable filtration system that can be used for 200 hours and is self-sanitizing and anti-proliferative. It's also environmentally friendly. The Econyl Lycra cover is made from recycled ocean plastics. They retail for about $45.
Sadly, you can't yet buy team-branded ones on the F1 team store, though we suspect that will change soon. In the meantime, you can pick up an F1TV subscription to catch up on the action for just $2.99 per month.
