In 2017, Go Fast Campers (aka GFC) sent shockwaves through the overlanding and camping communities with the release of its unique, ultra-lightweight and rugged modern wedge camper, which combined a shell and rooftop tent into one integrated, highly durable unit.

Considering the fact that GFC’s models weigh less than 500 pounds, while full-featured slide-in truck bed campers can hit upwards of 4,000 pounds … this was big news.

The truck's tailgate is down, and there is a pile of chopped firewood with a chainsaw resting on top in the grass nearby. The background features forested mountains under a cloudy sky.

Suddenly, you could get way farther into the wild without sacrificing comfort.

GFC has iterated on its OG camper throughout the years, but its newest release may be its best, thanks to the inclusion of a few highly functional updates.

Bigger and better than ever

GFC’s latest release, the V2 Max, takes all that the overlanding community knows and loves about the brand’s iconic Pro camper and brings even more functionality, comfort and space to the table.

The most obvious upgrade is the additional 18 inches of length in the V2 Max compared to the Pro. With this space, GFC was able to add what in my opinion is the most notable enhancement: the always-open pass-through section.

Two children and a woman are inside a camper van with a pop-up roof. One child is climbing into the upper sleeping area, while the woman is already inside the upper section. The other child stands below wearing a black "Santa Cruz" shirt. The interior includes a foldable chair with wheels and a white cowboy hat placed on the floor. On the left side, there are metal storage boxes with various stickers, including "HOWL," "RED HEAD," and "NORRA." The scene is lit by natural light coming through the open roof and a strip of warm LED lighting.
Leave the pass-through open to access the truck bed 24/7, or add in extra panels and make a gigantic bed.

In past models, GFC’s unique “transform-a-floor” system was made from multiple panels that could be configured in various ways and removed at will to access the truck bed.

For example, if you were sleeping in the RTT with your significant other and needed to get up in the middle of the night, you could remove a panel and slip down to the bed of the truck without disturbing their sleep.

It was clutch, but it also meant that if anyone was sleeping in the bed of the truck (like your child or dog) with all the panels in place, you couldn’t keep an eye on them or talk to them.

The always-open pass-through solves this dilemma and creates a sense of cohesion between the two areas. And, if you don’t need access to the truck bed, GFC includes two extra mattress sections so that you can make a massive sleep space up top.

Functional features abound

Continuing the V2 Max’s theme of accessibility-minded upgrades, GFC also added an optional sliding window between the cab and truck bed. Campers can use it to increase ventilation, or pass items into the truck bed with ease.

The interior of the vehicle features a black grid panel with a mounted device labeled "BLUETTI" and a strip of orange LED lights above the child. The vehicle's exterior is red.
The slide-through window is both functional and fun.

The sliding window is surrounded by a new powder-coated MOLLE panel, which provides a convenient place to mount gear and get it out of the way.
