Depending on how you’re feeling right now, motorcycling may be the last thing on your mind. Then again, maybe it’s front and center; after all, we are at the end of a long winter, and whatever uncertainty may come our way, there are few better ways to blast doubts from your mind than a nice ride. And there’s no point in riding without a helmet, obviously — so you need to be sure yours is in good shape before you hit the road once you can sneak out of the house again.
Still, you also might want to save some money, too. (Actually, when do you not want to save money?) Luckily, if you need to upgrade your lid game but want to keep as much of your hard-earned greenbacks in your wallet as possible, there’s a next-to-perfect way to do so: right now, RevZilla is offering the Biltwell Gringo helmet for the shockingly cheap price of $80.
Now, admittedly, Biltwell’s Gringo isn’t quite as elegant a retro-styled head protector as, say, Bell’s Bullitt helmet, but it still does exactly what you need a motorcycle helmet to do: provides DOT-approved protection while keeping your head comfortable. Granted, it doesn’t come with a visor, but the eyeport is capacious enough to accept practically any goggles, and you can always add on Biltwell’s own Bubble shield or 5-snap Blast shield (plenty of other 5-snap shields work, too).
And again, to reiterate the value play here: the Biltwell Gringo is one of the better deals in motorcycle helmets at its usual price of $160. At $80, it’s an absolute steal. It’s worth buying one just as a spare lid at that price.
