Prime Day is still happening on Amazon’s website, where you can get some of the latest, greatest tech and accessories at steep discounts. But what’s been raising eyebrows among Casio fanatics is the resurfacing of the Pro Trek models that were technically phased out a couple of years ago now.

An undisputed classic

Casio released the PRW-3500 series back in 2015 as the brand’s most capable all-around outdoor watch ever. It combined 200m of water resistance with the latest Triple Sensor tech (measuring altitude, barometric pressure, compass direction and temperature) for the first time in the history of the Pro Trek family.

I’ve been wearing the 3500 as part of my rotation for years, both on and off the trail. Despite sporting a chunky 53.4mm case (in resin) with a stainless steel compass bezel, the watch has a sneaky gorpcore aesthetic that looks utilitarian yet deceptively sleek.

The extra-wide display arguably has a leg up on any other Casio model, G-Shock or otherwise. Plus, the white LED Super Illuminator backlight is crisper and brighter than any timepiece I’ve experienced. The display was improved even further with the PRW-3510 (also discontinued), updating to a sharper, higher-contrast STN LCD.

No smartwatch, no problem

Despite disappearing from the catalog in recent years, enthusiasts still love the 3500 and its 3510 successor.

The Multi-Band 6 radio synchronization precludes the need for any smartphone connectivity, making this a perfect off-grid timepiece. You also get Tough Solar charging and sunset-sunrise data at the push of a button. Plus, it’s about as tough as any non-G-Shock you’ll find, with low-temp resistance down to 14ºF.

Likewise, you’ll get the full digital suite too, including a stopwatch, a timer, alarms, a calendar and world time display.

Availability and pricing

Available for a steep discount on Amazon right now, you’ll find the classic PRW-3500-1 for $208 (down from $365) and the titanium-band PRW-3500T-7 for $314 (down from $550).

There’s also the more recent PRW-3510Y-8 for $218 (down from $385). This watch has a blacked-out case and bezel with a green resin strap. The display is also a reverse LCD.

Again, this might be the final bow for the 3500 series Pro Treks, so don’t wait around if you’ve been considering this original classic.
