This $80 Stove Isn’t Even Six Months Old, and It’s Already a Car Camping Grail

Snow Peak’s camp kitchen system is legendary for its modularity, but at least one quirk has been a source of frustration for American buyers. One brand just fixed it.

Snow Peak’s Iron Grill Table system has quietly become the obsession of a certain breed of car camper โ€” first across Asia, now increasingly in the US.

Praised for its deep modularity, the IGT platform lets users build a genuinely personal outdoor kitchen from a growing ecosystem of components offered by Snow Peak and a constellation of third-party makers โ€” brands like Henrik Seo, Stanluck, Korogi and Campingmoon. It’s heavy, it’s expensive, and it’s entirely built for basecamp-style car camping.

Outside called it one of the best camp kitchens available. Now Coleman Japan has released what many in the community consider the system’s biggest missing piece โ€” and it sold out almost immediately.

The missing link?

The Dual Gas Burner Stove was launched by Coleman Japan in late December 2025. It immediately captured the imagination of the Japanese camping community, and US-based car campers invested in Snow Peak’s IGT system. Not surprisingly, it sold out quickly after going on sale just a few weeks ago.

Snow Peak’s own IGT-compatible flat burner is a capable piece of kit, but it runs on OD isobutane-propane canisters โ€” specifically the Snow Peak GigaPower line โ€” GigaPower isobutane-propane blend canisters. That limits flexibility.

Propane runs hotter, stays consistent in cold weather, and is far easier to find at virtually any gas station or big-box retailer in the US. Snow Peak’s burner isn’t cheap either, which stings when you can buy an excellent standalone dual-burner stove for the same price or less.

Coleman released a small companion table which is sold separately in the style of Snow Peak’s smaller IGT tables that’s design for the Dual Burner Gas stove to slot into.

Coleman Japan appears to have solved both problems at once.

The Coleman Japan Dual Gas Burner Stove slots directly into the IGT frame format and, critically, accepts standard propane canisters โ€” the kind sitting in millions of American garages right now. The distinction between CB and OD canister formats has long been a friction point for international buyers of Japanese outdoor gear, so a propane-compatible IGT burner is a genuinely meaningful development.

Coleman Japan has built a reputation for releasing innovative camping gear that never makes it to US shelves, and this stove fits that pattern to a tee. The Japanese division traces its roots to a branch office opened in 1976, reorganized as Coleman Japan Co., Ltd. in 1984, before being integrated into Newell Brands Japan LLC in 2022 โ€” separate in identity and product lineup from the American brand most US campers know.

The Coleman Japan Dual Gas Burner Stove accepts standard propane canisters, solving a real problem: propane runs hotter, stays consistent in cold weather, and is far easier to find at virtually any US gas station or big-box retailer than OD isobutane-propane canisters.

Collapsible legs on the bottom of the stove allow it to function on its own for those who aren’t interested in slitting it into an Iron Grill Table style system.

The stove features one burner and is designed to pair with Coleman Japan’s own companion IGT-style table. Compatibility with other IGT tables not made by Snow Peak appears workable but slightly inconsistent โ€” YouTube testing shows mixed results depending on the specific third-party frame, and early Japanese-market reviews have flagged minor fit considerations with some brands.

For those already deep in the Snow Peak ecosystem, that’s worth knowing before committing, though Japanese camping users have confirmed it works with Snow Peak’s own table system.

US buyers willing to experiment with fuel adapters should note that OD-to-propane adapters are available on the Japanese Amazon market, though native propane compatibility remains the cleaner, much safer solution.

At approximately $80 based on current conversion rates, the Coleman Japan Dual Gas Burner Stove undercuts Snow Peak’s own IGT burner significantly โ€” and it sold out in Japan almost immediately after launch. It’s currently listed as out of stock on Coleman Japan’s site, with no restock timeline announced.

There’s no US release confirmed. The IGT community stateside is watching closely, hoping Coleman Japan brings this one โ€” or something like it โ€” to the American market.

Until then, it remains exactly the kind of gear that makes the internet-camping community both excited and frustrated.
