G-SHOCK’s New GRAVITYMASTER Is Built for Life Beyond the Sound Barrier

The GWRB3000 pairs the first evolution of the TOUGH MVT. in 18 years with a bold case shaped by engineering.

G-SHOCK watches get plenty of credit for surviving everything from tall drops to deep dives and harsh conditions. But what about in a cockpit, where centrifugal force, constant vibration and sudden shocks work against accurate timekeeping? That turbulent environment is exactly what G-SHOCK’s aviation-focused GRAVITYMASTER line is built for.

The vision behind the new GWRB3000 is “supersonic.” Supersonic speed means motion faster than the speed of sound. When an object exceeds that speed, shock waves merge into the powerful pressure wave known as a sonic boom, and flight at those speeds demands extreme structural integrity under intense pressure and vibration. Inspired by jets that break the sound barrier, the GWRB3000 also arrives with a completely new exterior and updated movement.

A movement 18 years in the making

The GRAVITYMASTER is part of the Master of G series, G-SHOCK’s family of watches built for pros operating in extreme environments on land, out at sea and in the air. The GRAVITYMASTER’s job is the sky: delivering the readability, functionality and durability a pilot needs in a cramped cockpit mid-flight.

The heart of the GWRB3000 is the newly developed TOUGH MVT. 2 (Tough Movement Version 2), which is the brand’s most trusted and toughest movement yet. It marks the first evolution of the TOUGH MVT. platform in 18 years. The original TOUGH MVT. was a Tough Solar (solar powered) analog movement with automatic time correction, auto-hand home positioning, and hybrid mount construction. The TOUGH MVT. 2 keeps that foundation and expands on it, providing everything a pilot needs.

What’s new is that the movement now defends itself. Shock Detection senses a strong impact the instant it happens and automatically corrects the hand position to ensure the time is always accurate. Magnetic Field Detection takes a different tack: when the watch senses a strong magnetic field, the kind that can silently knock analog hands out of alignment, it simply stops the hands to hold them in place, then picks up right where it left off once the interference passes.

A structure shaped by simulation

The GWRB3000 is built around what Casio calls a dual hollow structure. A shock-absorbing resin layer sits inside a stainless steel outer case created through metal injection molding, while a Carbon Core Guard center case keeps mud and dust away from the inner module and resin cushions separate the layers. The whole assembly targets the trio of gravitational acceleration behind the Triple G Resist structure: shocks, centrifugal forces, and vibration.

For the case, the watchmaker turned to a process called topology optimization. It’s a technique that runs stress data through simulation software and lets the software calculate what the part should look like, with AI-assisted analysis covering drop impacts, rotation and vibration at once. Engineers fed in information, built a rough design, ran the analysis, reworked the geometry around what it returned and then re-simulated to confirm the results. The skeletal case you see is the result of that process.

Built to be read at a glance

A pilot has to read the time at a glance, so Casio rethought the dial itself. A microfabricated surface gives it a deep matte finish that scatters stray light to limit reflection, so the hands and markers stay crisp even under harsh sun, and because the solar cells live within the dial itself, that solid surface doesn’t cost the watch any charging ability. A spherical sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating covers it all.

The comfortable dual-layer urethane strap are molded from bio-based resin, part of Casio’s push toward lower-carbon materials, and the Japan-made watch carries 200-meter water resistance, a Super Illuminator LED, 38-time-zone world time and a full auto calendar.

Connecting the watch via Bluetooth® to the CASIO Watches app expands watch functionality, adding automatic time adjustment, up to 300 city world time, a flight log, phone finder, and easy watch setting. 

Three versions arrive in August 2026: silver bezel with black strap ($880), navy IP bezel with navy strap and dial ($990) and black IP bezel with gray strap ($1,100).
