Subaru might’ve just made life easier for Crosstrek fans dealing with today’s skyrocketing costs of living. Instead of slowly creeping prices up for the new model-year, the Japanese automaker held its numbers steady.

While it’s common practice for carmakers to raise prices year-over-year (for whatever reasons that may exist), it’s always a relief when automakers don’t. Especially during these expensive times.

For the 2027 model-year, the Fuji Heavy Industries-owned carmaker rolled out some minor updates for the Crosstrek. However, despite being with us since 2022 in its current form, it isn’t quite as comprehensive as a midcycle refresh.

Rather, Subaru candidly announced that the Crosstrek will remain priced at $26,995 for the base model (without shipping destination fees). Not only does it buck today’s cringy trend of rising costs, it also adjusts the Crosstrek range a bit.

With the new pricing strategy, Subaru also axed the midrange gas-only Sport model, in a likely move to reduce model complexity. Instead, said- midgrade Sport trim is only available with the hybrid powertrain. The Premium, Limited and Wilderness editions all remain, including their gas-electric hybrid variants.

Despite retaining its affordable cost, the Crosstrek remains jampacked with value. Which is even more especially true, with the model’s other significant update.

All-wheel drive is standard across the board

In addition to the steady prices, Subaru standardized its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system for all models. Previous, the Crosstrek could be had with front-wheel drive only, particularly on the lower tier models.

Which, to be honest, always seemed a bit odd. Especially for a crossover geared toward the outdoorsy type, with the presumption that they might need all-paw traction for the roads less traveled.

Nonetheless, all Crosstreks now drive all four wheels, regardless of trim and model. It further leans into the carmaker’s mantra for making cars that send power from the wheels that slip to the wheels that grip.

Availability and pricing

Subaru said the 2027 Crosstrek and all of its variants will be available later this fall at your local dealership.
