Casio’s Pro Trek line serves hikers and climbers who want reliable instrumentation without mountain-high price tags. But the latest addition to the family might find adoption among the urban-EDC crowd.

That’s because the new Casio Pro Trek PRJ-B001EX-1 features a redesigned band that doubles as a de facto wallet for keys, cash and other small items.

If that sounds like a lot to carry on your wrist, Casio actually factored that into the design.

Like other PRJ-B001 watches, the new variant can “accommodate a carabiner attachment, allowing the watch to be hung from your backpack,” the company says on the product page.

What’s more, the band also doubles as a cover that protects the face of the watch from errant knocks, complementing the design’s unique bezel that rotates to prevent accidental button presses.

Under the hood, the watch features classic Pro Trek functionality. It comes with Tough Solar power, Bluetooth pairing for location and distance tracking and up to 100 meters of water resistance.

Availability and pricing

In Japan, where the watch is already available for purchase, it carries a price tag of 33,000 Japanese yen (approximately $210 at the time of writing).
