Audioengine, one of the biggest names in affordable desktop hi-fi, is on a bit of a heater.

In the last several months, the Texas-based audio company has come out with new-and-improved versions of several of its popular computer speakers, including the A2+ ($279), HD3 ($359) and HD4 ($429).

And now, for a limited time, Audioengine is offering a desktop hi-fi kit featuring passive versions of its A2+ powered speakers, which are some of the most popular computer speakers around.

And honestly, the bundle is a deal that seems too good to be true.

A rare speaker bundle

The Desktop Flex Kit is comprised of two different Audioengine components: the N22 (Gen 2) desktop amplifier and a passive version of its A2+ computer speakers.

The amplifier plugs into your laptop or desktop. The A2+ speakers connect to the RCA inputs in the back of the amplifier. And boom โ€” you’ve got a badass desktop audio setup.

Exclusive speakers, no extra cost

This Desktop Flex Kit is super cool for two reasons.

First, Audioengine doesn’t even sell passive versions of the A2+, which are some of the most popular powered speakers you can buy. You can only buy them if you get this kit.

Second, Audioengine is including these rare speakers at no additional cost. It sells the N22 (Gen 2) for $269, and it also sells the Desktop Flex Kit, which includes the same amp with passive speakers, for $269.

A versatile amp

As for the Audioengine N22 (Gen 2), we named it as one of our best hi-fi components of 2023.

The little desktop amplifier is capable of driving most bookshelf-sized passive speakers. It also functions as a headphone amplifier, via the 3.5mm input on its front panel, that can drive high-end wired headphones.

Additionally, the N22 (Gen 2) amplifier supports Bluetooth (aptX), allowing you to stream music from your smartphone. It also has a subwoofer output, allowing you to build out the system.

Very limited edition

Audioengine hasn’t specified how many of these Desktop Flex Kits it is selling โ€” only that it’s a “very limited edition bundle” that is limited to just the inventory on hand. Basically, it’s not going to last long.

The bundle technically gives the option of picking between three colors for the A2+ speakers, including white, red and black. However, at the time of writing, only the white models appear to still be in stock.

The Audioengine Desktop Flex Kit costs $269.
