This Titanium EDC Pen’s Sneaky Extra Functions Make It Even More Indispensable

It wouldn’t be too far a stretch to call this formidable writing utensil a multi-tool.

Although often overlooked, an EDC pen is one of the most valuable tools one can carry with them. Not only do they allow you to jot down important information on-the-fly, but they don’t rely on short-lived batteries like your precious tech — meaning they’re more reliable in the long run.

But a pen with additional functionality expands its usefulness tenfold. Need proof? Check out the Big Idea Design x Notorious EDC Jot N Pop Ti Pocket Pro Pen, which is really more of a multi-tool than just a pen.

In the background, there is a pair of eyeglasses lying on the surface and a glass bottle with a yellow label, both slightly out of focus. Warm, circular bokeh lights add a cozy ambiance to the scene.

Ink slinger

This collaboration actually combines the two most popular products made by the brands behind it. For Big Idea Design, that’s the Pocket Pro pen.

As such, this pen has a full-titanium body, making it both incredibly lightweight and sturdy. In fact, it’s sturdy enough to be used as a glass-breaker when the ink cartridge isn’t deployed.

This titanium pen has a simple twist-operated deployment. It’s also strong enough to be used as a glass-breaker.

Speaking of its cartridge, this pen is compatible with Parker-style refills (and comes with a Schmidt P900 refill), which is among the most popular, widely available options on the market.

The pen has a simple twist operation to access the cartridge. It also has a pocket clip — also made from titanium — for easy hauling in your EDC loadout.

Semi-sneaky multifunctionality

Here’s where things get really fun. The other element of this pen, courtesy of Notorious EDC, comes from the aforementioned brand’s Beer Bomb.

For those not in the know, Notorious EDC’s Beer Bomb derives its name from its ability to open beer bottles. This pen has that functionality built into the shaft opposite the pocket clip, in the form of a cutout notch.

A hand is using a metal bottle opener to remove a green and yellow bottle cap from a green glass bottle against a black background.
As is probably obvious, that notch opposite the pocket clip is an integrated bottle opener.

For those keeping score, that means this pen has three handy functions: It writes, it opens bottles, and it can break glass in an emergency.

That makes it less of a writing utensil and more of a multi-tool. Even if you only use the first two functions, that’s still double the value of what most pens have to offer.

A gray pen rests on an open dotted notebook page with handwritten text and tally marks. The text reads "DAYS IN THE ATTIC" with tally marks underneath, and "HOPE EVERYONE LOVES PENS" written below a stylized "S" symbol. A yellow and green Topo Chico bottle cap labeled "TWIST OF LIME" is also on the notebook. Thick beige ropes surround the notebook on a wooden surface.
The pen truly is mightier than the sword — or at least this one is.
