In an industry increasingly dominated by bold colorways and attention-grabbing designs, On took a different route this holiday season. The Swiss running brand has quietly released two exclusive, members-only colorways in a sophisticated Ivory and Steel (re: bluish grey) palette that feels notably restrained and looks sharp as hell.

Available only through the end of the year, these limited-edition models bring an elevated aesthetic to the Cloudsurfer Max and Cloudnova 2, two of the brand’s most versatile products.

Maximum cushion, minimal fuss

The Cloudsurfer Max is On’s maximalist trainer turned everyday workhorse, built around a double-layer CloudTec Phase midsole that smooths out pavement like fresh powder and a plush Helion foam that keeps long miles from feeling punitive.

It’s the rare big-cushion shoe that doesn’t try to look big — a streamlined upper, airy mesh and a surprisingly nimble ride make it feel more refined than its footprint suggests.

The holiday-exclusive Ivory/Steel colorway leans into that restraint. The soft neutral palette keeps things clean and understated, but the contrast blue trim and sole add just enough definition to stand out from the usual winter whites.

Running DNA meets lifestyle sensibilities

On Cloudnova 2 Ivory/Steel combines street-ready style with the brand’s tech-grounded comfort. Engineered mesh uppers keep things airy and breathable, while a refined midsole (featuring cushy yet stable foam) smooths out long hours on foot.

It merges performance-inspired underpinnings with a clean-cut silhouette so it feels right at home with jeans, chinos, or joggers.

In the Ivory/Steel colorway, the quasi-hi-top looks especially good. The neutral base tone stays versatile and subtle, while the steely accents lend just enough contrast to elevate the look beyond basic. It’s a low-key statement: understated, functional, and unmistakably intentional.

Pricing and availability

These holiday exclusives represent something rare in today’s sneaker market; they work because they don’t try too hard.

It lets the technical innovations and thoughtful design of both models speak for themselves.

If you’re interested in a pair, please note that these are members-only exclusives, which means you’ll need to be signed up for a free On account to purchase them, at least until the holiday season is over.

There’s a chance these will become a wider release after that, or they could disappear from shelves for good.
