Half a century old next year, the Birkenstock Boston needs little introduction. Only you might need it after its next makeover.

Made in collaboration with Cncpts, the iconic clog welcomes winter with a pair of colorways inspired by the “natural essence of New England foliage,” the vaunted retailer says.

The limited-edition variants see the Boston swap out its traditional suede upper for one fashioned out of felt, available in dark gray or safety orange.

Both variants also feature natural vegetable-tanned leather accents, as well as Birkenstock’s original cork-latex footbed.

While the felt gives the Boston an air of cozy superiority, it also embeds the model with hardwearing attributes suitable to glamping environments.

Felt is naturally odor- and water-resistant, and even when it does get wet, it retains some of its thermal properties.

Perhaps most practically, however, the felt will hold its shape better over time, avoiding the classic “droop” of suede, which softens with frequent wear.
