Did you know that Nissan’s best-selling NISMO factory upgrades in America are for its Frontier pickup truck? Neither did we. Like us, you probably thought most NISMO upgrades went towards the Z sports car crowd.

But according to the Yokohama-based carmaker’s internal data, NISMO is really taking off among Frontier owners. It makes sense, as Nissan is continuing to revive its presence in the off-road space.

NISMO is on an off-road roll

Nissan might be known for making some of history’s greatest road-going sports cars. However, it also has a reputation for building some of the best four-wheelers in all the land.

It started with the original Patrol (Armada on our shores), Nissan’s direct answer to the Toyota Land Cruiser and Mitsubishi Pajero. That DNA also extends to the brand’s smaller trucks and SUVs, like the global Navarra, or our Frontier.

While NISMO made a name for itself with Nissan’s road-going sports cars, the division is expanding its reach to include the off-road segment.

The Yokohama-based automaker recognizes this, which is why it’s really ramping up its factory upgrade and accessory support. It’s an effort that includes its revered NISMO performance division.

While NISMO is often closely associated with its performance vehicles, like the Z, Skyline and GT-R sports coupes, it’s also expanding its support for Nissan’s off-roaders.

Now, Frontier owners can feel a little more at peace. They can depend on the mothership for vehicle upgrades and modifications that come with Nissan-backed warranties.

Need a lift? NISMO has you covered

The top-selling NISMO performance upgrade in question is the division’s full suspension lift kit, sold specifically for the current D41 third-gen Frontier. It’s an attractive option, as it’s an authentic, factory-backed upgrade.

It’s also incredibly affordable, priced at $371 directly from NISMO USA. It consists of front strut spacers, a 1.5-inch rear axle lift block, and all the supporting hardware. The result is a boost in ground clearance by over an inch.

But the full lift kit isn’t the only option. NISMO also offers performance off-road dampers of varying grades and even some upgraded forged control arms. And it doesn’t stop there.

Need some heavy-duty bumper reinforcements? NISMO’s got it. How about some auxiliary lighting hardware? Yep. In fact, should you even want to build the ultimate overlanding Frontier, using nothing but NISMO parts, you can pretty much do so.

And NISMO’s offerings still have plenty of room to expand.
