Breaking the NFL's Monopoly on Football

American’s love their football, but until now we’ve been forced to get our fix only between September and February. However if World Wrestling Federation owner Vince McMahon has his way, the XFL will soon be there to fill in the gap. Rest assured though that this newly created league will be nothing like the actual NFL. Instead the XFL will showcase “real” football. “Real” football is defined as football, without penalties for roughness and with fewer rules in general. Other highlights about the league will include: fighting instead of coin tosses, trash-talking announcers, scantily clad cheerleaders, and team names like The New Jersey Hitmen and Orlando Rage. Players will also be allowed to put whatever they want on the back of their jerseys (neato!). To quote Vince McMahon, “the XFL will be far more entertaining than the No Fun League, N.F.L.” – guess we’ll just have to wait and see if prediction about his join venture with NBC comes true.
