Social Media Coordinator

Gear Patrol is seeking a full-time Social Media Coordinator to join our growing team. The Social Media Coordinator is an essential role, acting as Gear Patrol’s voice and visual identity on external platforms. Success in this position comes from an obsessive attention to detail, quick critical thinking skills and strong creative instincts.

Qualified candidates must have a proven track record in community management and growing followings on platforms including, but not limited to, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. This position will be responsible for executing organic and paid social media and search campaigns, as well as leading the creative voice and copy for all channels. Candidates must have an “always-on” mentality, understanding of the fact that social media conversations can happen at any time of day or night. Like all Gear Patrol team members, the right candidate should live and breathe products, be deeply passionate about our mission, operate from a positive mindset, and lead by example.

Responsibilities:

  • Help grow Gear Patrol’s audience and brand reputation across all relevant properties.
  • Implement and coordinate Gear Patrol’s social media publishing strategy for existing editorial, content studio and native advertising projects.
  • Schedule daily posts across social media platforms and manage the social media calendar.
  • Work with the editorial team to coordinate and/or execute complementary social media opportunities that arise during the content production process.
  • Pitch and coordinate exclusive and/or “live” social media content across assigned platforms.
  • Lead healthy and responsible growth across managed platforms through editorial programs and actionable initiatives.
  • Initiate and manage paid social media boosts and promotions as assigned.
  • Maintain “always on” work flexibility to handle communication needs outside of typical business hours, as well as last minute travel and events.

  • Direct initiatives to cross promote Gear Patrol’s social media content in relevant ways across all Gear Patrol properties.
  • Monitor reader outreach and work with the editorial team to coordinate responses.
  • Monitor conversations and trends across social media platforms to inform the editorial team about relevant story ideas and trending topics.
  • Produce regular stories recapping our audience dialog and exclusive social media content.
  • Develop and maintain the Gear Patrol social media communication style guide.
  • Work alongside the Editorial Coordinator to produce and update regular reports outlining social media performance.
  • Share successes and failures with Gear Patrol team members during weekly meetings to enhance company learnings.

    Requirements:

    • 1-2 years experience community management for a publication or brand(s)
    • Experience with Facebook Business Manager, analytics and scheduling tools such as Sprout, Buffer, etc.
    • Familiarity with mobile editing and production software such as VSCO, Snapseed etc.
    • Mobile and traditional photography / videography skills a plus.

      Account Directors are seasoned digital media sellers with a clear history of prospecting, qualifying and building new business across assigned verticals including Automotive, Home Goods, Outdoor and Fitness, Style, Technology, and Watches.

      The ideal candidate should be proactive by nature and work from a solutions-first mindset. They should also relish the challenge of working independently to achieve personal goals and derive deep satisfaction from creating solutions to difficult and complex problems.

      Finally, the right candidate must be comfortable operating in a modern, fully-integrated, media environment promoting opportunities across all Gear Patrol platforms including print, digital, social, events and more.

      This role will report directly to our Vice President of Advertising and Partnerships.
      Responsibilities:

              Editorial Associate

              Gear Patrol is seeking an ambitious Editorial Associate interested in starting a full-time career in the media industry and building a broad foundation of relevant skills.

              The editorial associate role is an entry-level position with significant opportunities to learn the trade from industry veterans. Opportunities include researching and writing daily editorial franchises, as well as providing production support for tentpole editorial projects, including the quarterly Gear Patrol magazine. A typical day will include everything from writing and aggregating stories to updating promotional widgets, pulling site data, calling in product samples, and helping prep for video and photoshoots.

              The ideal candidate will be an energetic multitasker who can handle both immediate and long-term assignments. Candidates must also be highly organized, fast learners, and proactive communicators. And while most functions and skills will be taught on the job by experienced staffers, the ability to write quickly and cleanly is an essential prerequisite for the role.

              The role will report directly to the Deputy Editor and work closely with all members of the editorial team. Those who excel in this position will have a variety of growth opportunities at Gear Patrol.

              Responsibilities:

              • Research, write, and produce daily editorial franchises, as well as select news and deals stories.
              • Research select longform stories and projects.
              • Update promotional content widgets with important and successful stories.
              • Conduct research for select longform stories and projects.
              • Contact brands to access sample products and coordinate their delivery and return.
              • Support senior editorial staff members on select tentpole editorial initiatives and projects, including the Gear Patrol print magazine.
              • Collect and properly format key editorial metrics and data.
              • Monitor various information resources such as competitive publications, PR contacts, and social media for noteworthy news and coverage opportunities.
              • Schedule both recurring and one-off editorial meetings at the request of senior leadership.
              • Take notes and minutes during select editorial meetings and distribute the recaps to attendees.

                      Sales Planners play an essential operational role working alongside account executives to shepherd the sales process from concept to completion. In practice, this can range from developing advertising and sponsorship proposals to securing advertising inventory, coordinating internal creative concepts, executing campaigns and reporting on the final results.

                      Successful candidates should be well-organized and excellent personal time managers who thrive while balancing multiple projects at various stages simultaneously.
