Meet Bangalore Watch Company’s Peninsula Zanskar

A fresh take on the outdoor watch, inspired by the terrain of the Himalayas.

There’s a lot of repetition in outdoor watches: rotating bezels, familiar aesthetics, and design cues that haven’t changed in decades. Bangalore Watch Company did something different with the Peninsula Zanskar. Inspired by the Zanskar valley in the Himalayas, the Peninsula Zanskar takes a considered approach to the outdoor watch. Rather than designing around the ocean, the brand designed around the epic mountain range — specifically the Zanskar valley and its frozen rivers, snow-covered cliffs, and high-altitude terrain.

Its 44mm pebble-shaped 316L stainless steel case is designed around all-day comfort, while a textured white dial and large diamond-cut, rhodium-coated Super-Luminova® BGW9 Grade-A markers prioritize visibility in changing light.

A super-domed sapphire crystal with two layers of anti-reflective coating keeps things legible from any angle. Inside, a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with 41 hours of power reserve handles the timekeeping. An FKM rubber strap and 200 meters of water resistance round things out, making it a solid choice for those who need a watch that can keep up with unpredictable conditions and varied terrain.

The Himalayan influence shows up across many of the piece’s details. The pebble-shaped case draws directly from the smooth stones found across Himalayan riverbeds, and the lug-less construction makes the watch sit flat, which is a practical choice for something that’s meant to be worn during long days and for an array of activities.

At 31mm lug-to-lug and 13.75mm thick, the proportions stay manageable despite the 44mm diameter. The white textured dial references the icy terrain of the valley, while subtle markers at 3 and 9 o’clock nod to forests and oceans. A screw-down crown with the BWC logo and a closed, screwed-down caseback keeps the build consistent with the watch’s 20 ATM water resistance rating. The strap is high-density fluoro-elastomer rubber, secured with a 316L steel tang buckle signed with the BWC logo.

It’s the kind of watch built for people who spend more time outside than at a desk — and need their gear to reflect that.
