Exclusive: Inside the New Jersey Warehouse Where Rare Porsche Dreams Come True

Inside a pineapple-colored building in Saddle Brook lie some of Stuttgart’s finest.

It’s an unmarked building in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, not far from the George Washington Bridge. It’s painted a strange yellow-orange color and there’s an 8 x 10 piece of paper taped to the door that says “Top Gear Imports.” The building abuts a screen printing company. Walk through the door and all preconceptions are blown away as you’re greeted by two mint-condition Porsche Carrera GTs — one in Gulf Blue, one in GT Silver Metallic. They only made about 1,300 of them, and a good one will go for $700,000. These aren’t the rarest cars in the garage.

It’s a garage built for poring over, for gawking and gurning and for making some attempt to capture and share it all. As such, it seemed prudent to set our design apprentice Hunter Kelley loose with a Pentax 67 and three rolls of Portra 800.
