When it comes to affordable cars, you tend to get what you pay for — mediocre performance, uninspired design, and an interior as an afterthought made with cheap materials. It’s already well known that the new, affordable A-Class sedan Mercedes is bringing to the U.S next year proves you can have an excellent looking car attached to an attractive price tag, but now Mercedes appear to be bucking the trend on interiors, too. Because images of the upcoming A-Class Sedan’s interior look on par with a Mercedes that carries a price tag twice as large.
If the A-Class Sedan concept, shown earlier this year, is anything to go by and if it undergoes minimal changes before production, the sub-$30,000 sedan is shaping up to a beautiful competitor for the BMW 2-Series and Audi A3. The A-Class looks to take a lot of inspiration from the E-Class with leather on almost every surface, wood trim, a minimal amount of piano-black plastic and a gorgeous one-piece tablet-style dash and infotainment center.
Based on how well-received the AMG A43 hatchback was and the accolades it garnered for its handling and performance, it stands to reason the upcoming A-Class will inherit at least some of that performance. Which means Mercedes appears to be building one of the most well-rounded cars we’ve seen in decades. 2018 can’t come soon enough.
