It’s a tall order to fill the shoes of the outgoing Aston Martin DBS, a car that graced the automotive world, as well as MI-6’s garage, since 2007. In order to bring forth a worthy heir to the Aston Martin grand tourer role, the British automaker invoked a name from its illustrious past and tantalized us with the AM 310 concept that would eventually lead us to the all-new 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish.

Not so loosely based on the concept, the Vanquish name returns with styling cues from their super-rare One-77 such as LED illuminated rear light blades and longer side strakes. We especially love the sculpting and light treatment of the light blades since they mimic the Aston Martin winged logo. The new 6.0 liter V12 engine boasts both a displacement and horsepower increase. This time, the output jumps from 510 brake horsepower to a meaty 565. Mated to a Touchtronic 2 6-speed automatic transmission, the new Vanquish will reach 60 in 4 seconds and hit a top speed of 183. The full carbon fiber body and VH architecture lend to excellent rigidity and lightness, which should aid in performance worthy of the Aston Martin name. Expect only the finest appointments inside to match the gorgeous exterior, as is typically done at AM HQ in Gaydon, Warwickshire. Cabin space has been increased and boot space has been bumped up by 60%, which means you’ll be able to cram even more insanely priced luggage into it for your next bespoke automotive jaunt.
