Spanish car manufacturer, Aspid, has just pulled the veil on renderings that show its muscular second offering, the Aspid GT-21 Invictus. And though the name sounds like a cross between an entomological term and a Roman Emperor, the car itself is pure performance. Powered by a BMW sourced V8 engine with 450 brake horsepower at 8,300 RPM, the Invictus also boasts a sub-3,000 pound curb weight, which should amount to a launch to 60 in a face-ripping sub-3 seconds.
The car’s very original and muscular look claims the first open-wheel 2+2 design that probably could use about 50 fewer lines. From certain angles, it looks impressive. From others, it appears to mimic an attachment for a Hoover vacuum cleaner. Composite body, IFR carbon fiber chassis, integrated roll bar and twin disc brakes front and rear are evidence that Aspid is serious about the car’s performance. We can’t wait to see what this monster can do on asphalt, and we’re glad to see a niche carmaker bring something this mean to the automotive world.
