Ford could be on the path to making its controversial four-door Mustang prospect a reality. The Dearborn automaker recently recommitted itself to making affordable cars again, not just SUVs.
But rather than focusing on reviving some of its previously well-known nameplates, like the Fusion and Focus, Ford could be charging forward with its four-door pony car.
A long controversial rumor could become a reality

According to CarScoops, which heard from CEO Jim Farley, Ford is looking to get back into producing affordable cars again. More interestingly, the first model to launch from the initiative could reportedly be a new high-performance, rear-wheel-drive sedan.
Although Farley didn’t divulge any specifics, this would be in line with the four-door Mustang rumor.
Back in 2022, Ford began hinting at the prospect, which is a supposed effort to expand the Mustang lineup. The goal to grow the Mustang brand is what eventually led to the creation of the Mach-E.
