Nissan’s Next Pickup Is Shaping Up to Be Its Most Badass

Why does the US always miss out on the coolest stuff?

Nissan is preparing to launch its most badass midsize pickup ever, the Premcar-engineered Navara PRO-4X Warrior. But sadly, as you probably guessed, it’s not for those of us in the United States, and that makes us want it even more.

Drive recently received confirmation that Nissan’s Australian division just green-lit the production of the heavily off-road-upgraded PRO-4X Warrior Concept. The automaker revealed the concept in late 2025 as a collaboration with Premcar, an Australian aftermarket engineering firm specializing in independent vehicle upgrades and consulting.

Back in November 2025, Nissan and Premcar revealed the Navara PRO-4X Warrior Concept to appease the heavy off-roading enthusiasts down yonder. Based on Nissan’s global pickup, the PRO-4X Warrior Concept takes Nissan’s global off-roading division and cranks it up to 1,000.

Premcar takes the already pretty-darn rugged and capable Navara PRO-4X and adds a whole bunch of off-roading goodies. Including heavier-duty suspension and lift kit, larger 32-inch all-terrain tires, and other tuning, all to boost the truck’s capabilities.

For instance, the upgrades boost the truck’s ground clearance, approach, departure and breakover angles. While engineers also tweaked the suspension for better damping on- and off-road, especially with the beefier tires and dampers.

Premcar also goes to town with the visuals, adding a bullbar up front, widened wheel arches to compensate for the larger tires and increased axle articulation, driving and auxiliary lights for better nighttime visibility and uprated underbody skid plates.

And, of course, Nissan and Premcar festoon the truck with a whole bunch of badass Warrior graphics inside and out.

In the same interview, Drive also confirmed Nissan and Premcar will be rolling out a similar production treatment for the global Patrol PRO-4X (or our Armada) in the coming months.

The global off-roader wars are heating up

The Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior is another example of how automakers globally are jumping on the growing demand for off-roaders. Rugged trucks and four-by-fours continue growing in popularity as buyers seek more personalized ways to get out and about in the wilderness as a recreational activity.

Ford Australia also confirmed the impending arrival of its new Aussie-only Ranger Super Duty, while Mitsubishi just overhauled its Titan pickup. Toyota just launched its redesigned Hilux, the most globally recognized midsized pickup.

Neither Toyota nor Mitsubishi has announced any sportier variants. But we imagine they will in due time.

Nissan didn’t say whether the Warrior program would come to North America. But we do get similar PRO-4X versions of the Frontier and Armada. Both are federalized adaptations of the brand’s global trucks.

Americans, too are interested in off-roaders, as seen with the recent influx of new models on our shores. Toyota launched its Tacoma and 4Runner TRD-Pro models.

Nissan North America also recently confirmed the revival of its long-lost but never forgotten Xterra. It also said the Pathfinder would return to a rugged body-on-frame chassis, all specifically for four-wheeling and overlanding enthusiasts.

Nissan Australia also confirmed its ambitions to expand the Warrior program beyond the Aussie market back in March 2025. The plan is to offer the trucks as far as South Africa and even South America. With those plans to go “global,” we can only hope Nissan Australia has North America in mind.
