Porsche Just Went Absolutely Bonkers with Its Track-Focused 911 Racecar for the Road

Zuffenhausen officially teamed up with Manthey to produce this insane performance upgrade kit.

It’s no mystery that the current 992.2 Porsche 911 GT3 is a serious machine, but now it’s even more so. Zuffenhausen just revealed a new Manthey-based upgrade package for its track-focused variant and it’s as bonkers as it looks.

The 911 GT3 Manthey Kit essentially cranks up one of Porsche’s fastest machines to one thousand to make it even faster, more aerodynamic and more track-ready.

Founded in 1996 as one of the premiere aftermarket tuning firms for 911s, Manthey has since grown into massive P-car enthusiast phenomenon. So much, that now, Porsche is offering its latest kit through its own factory-back channels.

More than just an appearance package

The 911 GT3’s Manthey Kit may look absolutely bananas. Particularly with its enlarged, massive rear-wing spoiler and the two different wheel styles from front to rear.

However, it’s purely form following function. While it may look like the sort of kit that garners all the oohs and ahs at your local cars and coffee, it all helps the 911 GT3 generate up to an additional whopping 1,190 pounds of downforce at speed, depending on the configuration.

Which means, when the 911 GT3 Manthey is hustling on the racetrack, the faster it goes, the more grip it generates.

Allowing that to happen is a huge increase in the turning vanes on the GT3’s undersides. The latter grow in size by a 39-inches.

In order to incorporate those vanes, Porsche and Manthey had to eliminate the car’s luggage compartment, resulting in a completely smooth underbody. Paired with that massive spoiler, it all helps to reduce underbody lift while enabling said additional downforce.

Adjustable suspension for every setting

Of course, being the track monster that it is, the 911 GT3 Manthey also comes with adjustable coilover suspension. In addition to being able to adjust the aerodynamic parameters of the bodywork, drivers can also make on-site tweaks to the suspension, depending on track conditions and surfaces.

Also compliments of Manthey, engineers from both firms codeveloped a four-way coilover setup. Meaning the struts’ rebound and compression rates can be modified without the need for any tools.

Rounding out the package is a set of lightweight 20- and 21-inch forged staggered wheels. When equipped, the setup helps reduce unsprung weight by over 13 pounds.

While all these specs sound interesting, they do translate to results. With Porsche and Manthey engineers working their magic, the team knocked three seconds off the 911 GT3’s Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time.

Porsche hasn’t announced official pricing yet. But it will be available to US customers next spring. And given the 911 GT3 starts at $230,500, the Manthey kit will likely require some additional pretty (and now defunct?) pennies.
