The “World’s First Glampervan” Is Less Camper and More Luxury Yacht

The Robeta Ananya is sure to attract haters, half of whom might secretly want to take up residence within its walls.

From the beginning, “glamping” drew the ire of outdoors enthusiasts, with many viewing the idea of loading the camping experience with fancy modern amenities as antithetical to the whole idea of getting away from it all.

But considering the term is now 20 years old, was added to the Oxford English in 2016 and technically dates back centuries, there’s clearly an appeal to this mode of adventure.

No matter where you fall on the spectrum, the latest product to tap into ethos is worth a look, and maybe even a double take.

That’d be the luxuriously appointed new Ananya from Slovenia-based camper van outfitter Robeta Mobil, which legit has me daydreaming about ditching my apartment and moving right into it.

Well-heeled build bona fides

It’s worth noting that Robeta knows what it’s doing when it comes to unconventionally ostentatious camper vans.

Years ago the brand worked with F1 star Ralf Schumacher on a bonkers $350,000-plus build with a nightclub-like interior vibe.

Highlights include yacht-inspired furniture, a multi-expanding floating queen bed, 1,000-watt JL Audio system, wine fridge and humidor — not to mention a silver finish that makes it look as though it’s cast in chrome

While the Ananya approaches that vehicle’s luxury, it steps away from its futuristic sleekness for a more welcoming, approachable feel — emotionally, anyway.

In that way, it’s somewhat in conversation with Snow Peak’s “outdoor living” philosophy, embracing the idea that you can actually live and work in this thing, with the outdoors happening all around you.

That being said, its accoutrements make even the most fanciest Snow Peak setup feel like roughing it. Let’s take a closer look.

Rolling wonder

Up front, Robeta cleanly cleaves the living area from the cockpit of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter from which it is derived.

Making use of the right angle created by this division, an L-shaped sofa fills the space with super-comfy sofa segments extending nearly 6.6 feet out and 31 inches deep.

The Ananya’s interior is much more relaxed and earthy than the Schumacher’s — and ultimately more inviting.

Built right into it is a dual-leaf table floating on a single support strut, seamlessly adding dining capability to the set-up.

Above this area is a double-bed sized MebloJOGI Travel F 24 mattress that lowers down when it’s time to call it a night.

The driver’s side wall features a row of spacious windows, opposite not a bathroom but a wardrobe complete with a Tiny Wash combo washer-dryer.

That’s admittedly the least luxe laundry option this side of a washboard, but it’s quite compact and a pretty rare feature for camper vans and small RVs.

The kitchen area, meanwhile, is quite nicely appointed. Highlights include a generous Corian countertop, dual-burner Bora Classic gas stove, gas oven/grill and 130-liter fridge/freezer.

Robeta also flouts tradition when it comes to the bathroom itself. Nestled into the rear passenger side corner, it has an open design with a privacy curtain rather than a door.

This conceptual sketch of the bathroom area can’t hide the fact it is pretty barebones.

Tight as the space is, it also manages to squeeze in a sink, shower and marine macerating toilet.

If you’ve bought into the overall concept, the bathroom might be the most controversial element, as it is rather spartan compared to everything else.

Powered up

Stepping away from interior design, Robeta has pretty ambitious intentions for other elements of the Ananya, which is still under development.

For example, it may get a flat, dark-tinted retractable skylight above the sofa-lounge for breathtaking views of blue skies and evening stars.

Utility-wise, the Ananya is equipped for six days off-grid, courtesy of a 10-kWh plug-and-play EcoFlow 48-V electrical system with stackable batteries complemented by 450-W solar panels.

The storage tanks accommodate up to 160 liters of fresh water and 151 liters of diesel Sprinter fuel, while a Webasto hybrid heater supplies the interior heat and hot water.

No glamping rig would be complete without connected tech, available here in the form of Starlink internet access, a Bang & Olufsen Beosound Stage soundbar with Dolby Atmos, and a cellular signal booster.

I can’t get into all the specs of the Sprinter itself here, but you can rest easy knowing that the base model does indeed include all-wheel drive.

Availability and pricing

The Robeta Ananya is set to launch in January 2026, kicking off a new Ananya model series with five Founders Edition models priced at €255,000, about $295,000 USD.
