Comfort is the name of the game when it comes to Crocs. Say what you will about their style, but there’s no denying how remarkably comfortable they are.

That said, the Crocs Classic Clogs — the brand’s flagship offering — isn’t particularly all-weather friendly. From the mule back to the holes in the upper, they’re definitely warm-weather shoes.

Well, the brand’s latest drop, the Classic Lined Shorty, takes the Classic Clog’s overall styling and pares it into something perfect for the upcoming colder weather of autumn and winter.

The upper and outsole scream “classic Crocs,” but the liner and footbed tell a different story.

Same old Crocs, sort of

For the most part, the upper and outsole of the Classic Lined Shorty borrow heavily from the iconic Classic Clog. The bulk of the shoe is still made from the brand’s proprietary Croslite foam that’s as sturdy as it is lightweight and weatherproof.

However, there are some key differences. For instance, the toe is no longer perforated. Yes, it still has dimples styled like its traditional sibling, but they’re sealed — meaning there’s no reason to worry about moisture seeping in.

While the clogs’ toe dimples resemble the classic holes, they’re not fully perforated, which is better for winter weather.

Unfortunately, that means these shoes won’t work with the brand’s signature Jibbitz charms, but that’s a necessary trade-off.

Similarly, the outsole and midsole are relatively on-brand. However, there are a couple of key alterations.

For starters, the midsole has a little added height to help elevate your feet above the potentially wet ground. Second, the outsole is affixed with rubber pads that increase its traction for better terrain management.

While the backside lacks the traditional strap, the higher back has a thick pull tab that makes putting them on a cinch.

Cold-blooded outside, cozy inside

While the outer is like a tweaked version of the Classic Clog, the inside is a completely different story. With typical Crocs, the inside of the shoe is the same material as the outside: Croslite foam.

This one, however, has a thick, fuzzy, sherpa-like lining. This means a couple of things.

For starters, this shoe is going to be much warmer than its all-foam counterparts. Pair that with the lack of perforations at the toe and that makes this a much more fall- and winter-friendly wear.

While not quite hiking-ready, the outsole can handle most everyday terrain.

Second (and to keep the warmth locked in), it means the shoe is lacking the classic back strap. These aren’t mules; they’re slip-ons. To cope with that, they feature a thick pull tab on the back to make putting them on nearly as simple and convenient.

They’re kind of like what might happen if you combined a pair of Crocs with some Uggs. Whether that’s your thing or not, you’ll have to decide for yourself.

The Classic Lined Shorty is available in either Black or Sandstone colorways.
