Need a New AC Unit? This One Works with Alexa, HomeKit and Google.

GE’s new AC units put an end to forgetting to turn off the AC when you leave the house.

Overengineering is running amuck in the world of smart home products — does your blender really need wi-fi connectivity? — but there are still plenty of quality of life-improving innovations coming out. General Electric Appliance’s new line of air conditioning units are one of those changes, and though they may not be the sexiest purchase heading into the hot season, they’ll be among the most useful.

GE Appliance’s new money- and energy-saving products all feature Alexa, Google Assistant and, as first reported by The Verge, Homekit support. Starting at $249, the window units offered range from an 8,000 BTU model to the more powerful 12,000 BTU for $359.
