Spoons, forks and knives, have admirably served western eaters well for centuries — but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for innovation. Following in the prestigious footsteps of the spork, the product think tank at Quirky has devised a new eating utensil that combines the shoveling benefits of a spoon with the spreading skills of a knife into one genius product, dubbed the Scoop measuring knife ($TBD). The tool pulls double duty thanks to a living hinge, which allows users quickly to switch between spoon and spreader, while also storing flat. Helpful measuring lines displayed on the plastic surface also makes portion control a far simpler affair, particularly when dealing with more stubborn treats like peanut butter and cream cheese. While the Scoop is currently in the development phase on Quirky, we expect a buyable prototype to become available shortly.
