iRobot, makers of the Roomba robo-vacuums and the Braava robo-mops, have combined the two. Sort of.
Unveiled today, the new S-Series vacuum adds more suction, a corner-hugging design and the robo-vacuum industry’s first-ever anti-allergen system, which the brand says allows it to capture 99 percent of allergens encountered during operation. Like its previous release, it’s operated by an app on your phone that allows you to select which rooms you want cleaned, schedule out cleaning cycles and more.
Also new, the Braava Jet m6 operates just like the Roomba, but works like a mop. Attach a dry or wet cleaning pad and tell it where and how much to clean (hard surfaces only).
Through what iRobot calls Imprint Link Technology, the Roomba now communicates with the Braava when it’s done vacuuming, and dispatches the Braava to do the followup cleaning. Both can be activated with Google Assistant or Alexa, and both are available through iRobot’s site now.
