Flight Recliner

The anti-La-Z-Boy

Sure, an overstuffed leather chair that goes horizontal with the flick of a lever is a comfortable way to tuck in for the afternoon, but why ruin a room with a Rent-a-Center relegation when you can have your modern and lie in it too? Responding to the challenge of designing a recliner that’s comfortable, ergonomic and sleek, designers Jeffrey Bernett and Dodziuk have created the aptly named Flight Recliner — Bernett’s chops include designing the ergonomic in-flight seating for Northwest Airlines.

Look past the perfectly mid-century aeronautical design and you’ll find a patented reclining mechanism that requires only a slight nudge to activate — and the entire seat is made in the USA. Yes, it will cost you the better part of a roundtrip ticket in business class, but unlike an overpriced transatlantic run, this chair will last much longer than 6 hours. JFK to NAP, now boarding.
