“A breath of freedom, where adventures and encounters meet. A deeply real and authentic experience.”

That’s the intro copy hyping Wheels and Waves, a many-splendored exploration of moto, surf, skate and BMX culture that just kicked off its 15th edition in Biarritz, France.

For all its fancy 3D-printed trappings, the Concept 2077 still lets the Hornet’s all-new 755cc parallel twin-cylinder, 8-valve Unicam engine shine.

Honda certainly came to play, rolling out 10 jaw-dropping bikes from all over the world to compete in a custom build competition.

Among an impressive lineup, it’s hard to miss Switzerland’s entry, which turns a Hornet 750 into a futuristic street machine worthy of a (very specific) superhero.

Stark stunner

As eye-popping as it is, the so-called ‘Concept 2077’ (whose name almost certainly references the Cyberpunk 2077 video game) plays within the Honda Customs initiative’s rules, which neatly lay out an on-road vs. off-road bifurcation.

Toward that end, five of the chosen entries revamp the CB750 Hornet and five make over the XL750 Transalp.

Dovis loves the bike’s matching gold aero discs, and I can’t exactly argue with him.

The bikes’ original designers themselves (Giovanni Dovis and Valerio Aieillo, respectively) are even reviewing them from Honda’s R&D center in Rome.

Representing Honda Moto Suisse/Schweiz, this red-and-yellow wonder comes from the all-too-fittingly-named Stark Industries

The roboticized hornet-like “face” is almost eerie in appearance. Don’t stare at it for too long.

The multi-faceted outfit specializes in 3D printing, which explains the Concept 2077’s bespoke lower fairing and underpan bodywork.

The deep candy red and subtle gold paint combo is both striking and an unmistakable nod to Marvel’s famous Armored Avenger, with signature lighting enhancing the effect.

Stark doesn’t lay the Concept 2077 branding on too thick, as the full name only appears on the angular tank.

That said, Dovis picks up different but equally valid cyberpunk and Japanese manga vibes.

He is also quick to point out the wheel’s golden aero disc covers, which neatly match the subframe and pegs.

The gold accents neatly match the suspension forks and exhaust pipes, both of which seem to have gotten their own aftermarket treatments.

It is perhaps most impressive how much the bike looks like what Iron Man would ride … yet still manages to come off super cool in its own right, even if you’ve somehow never even heard of Tony Stark’s high-flying alter ego.
