Following the launch of the LiveWire One under the Harley-Davidson umbrella, the Bar and Shield then spun off the electric brand into its own entity.

While it’s a move that allowed LiveWire to grow its S2 lineup into a series of distinct offerings  (Mulholland, Del Mar and Alpinista), the outfit hasn’t exactly managed to cultivate a strong following.

As such, between new rider courses and hefty discounts, LiveWire has tried a variety of tactics to break through to EV skeptics. But let’s face it — until charging performance stops being a hindrance, most seasoned motorcyclists won’t even consider swinging a leg over the saddle of an electric bike.

For this reason, the brand’s new concept could make for one of its most impactful releases yet. It’s a motorcycle that LiveWire hopes will prove EV speed capabilities in more ways than one.

Equipped for performance

It’s called the ‘Alpinista Corsa,’ and, as you might expect from the name, it’s a corner-carving creation based on the LiveWire brand’s Alpinista model.

Being the sportiest of the S2 trio, the bike is already equipped for spirited riding with its riser handlebars and neutral geometry. However, the new Corsa concept takes the Alpinista’s ethos a step further with some top–shelf components and careful geo tweaks.

So, along with ditching the stock cast-aluminum wheels for a set of BST Twin Teks, this also meant replacing the Showa suspension with Öhlins units, adding a set of clip-on handlebars and outfitting the bike with some billet triple clamps rearsets.

Seeing as those amount to some significant component upgrades, LiveWire also treated the Alplinsta to some new visuals befitting its Corsa redux. Beneath the eye-catching livery, the bike benefits from a swath of carbon fiber components, including a new front fender, some radiator shrouds and a set of belt guards.

Given that the Alpinsta can rocket you to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds, the lower clip-on handlebars are sure to come in handy.

When you consider that the Alpinista was already capable of sprinting from 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds flat, such changes could only add to its sporting abilities. However, on-road performance isn’t the only way that Harley intends to demonstrate the bike’s speed.

A shocking revelation

That’s because, along with bringing upgraded components, the concept also sports some changes to its powertrain in the form of upgraded DC fast-charging tech.

The shiny bits are nice, but the biggest upgrade to the Alpinista comes in the form of reduced charge times.

In practice, LiveWire says that this means that the Alpinista Corsa can recharge its 10-kWh battery pack from 20 to 80 percent in under 10 minutes. While this is comparable to the capabilities of a brand like, say, Lightning, it’s nevertheless a feat worth appreciating.

For perspective, Honda’s upcoming WN7 takes about three times as long to top up for a similar capacity.

Moreover, as things stand with LiveWire, even a charger with Level 2 capabilities will take you all of 78 minutes to go from 20 to 80 percent. If you’re using a Level 1 charge plug, it’ll take nearly six hours.

In other words, LiveWire’s Corsa concept is set to be shockingly fast — both in terms of its equipment upgrades and its charging potential.

Trickle-down charging

While the Alpinista Corsa is only a concept, this tech will likely see application on the road before too long because of the trickle-down effect.

After all, if anything is guaranteed to get more motorcyclists plugged into the electric initiative, it’s not just longer ranges, but also shorter charge times. It’s in LiveWire’s best interest for motorcycles like the Alpinista Corsa to hit production.

You’ll be able to catch the bike on display at EICMA from November 6th through November 9th.
