Royal Enfield’s Newest Retro-Styled Moto Is Also Its Most Approachable (By a Country Mile)

The long-hyped bike’s specs are out and so are the hot takes. Yet the number that stands out to me has nothing to do with power or torque.

Since its grand intro way back in the fall of 2024, Royal Enfield’s Flying Flea sub-brand, which blends stunning retro styling with electric power, has continued to ride the hype machine like a two-lane twisty.

But while that feels long ago, and electric moto makers are known to deliver much more sizzle than steak (looking at you, Damon), RE FF cannot be accused of overpromising, as even back then they were targeting a spring 2026 release for the inaugural C6.

That’s starting to look like much more of a reality now that specs have finally been revealed, with pricing (at least for India) and possibly more coming at the end of this week.

While much is being made of the power, torque, top speed and of course range, the number that catches my eye is one that’s smaller than expected in a good way: the weight.

Ensconced within the fabulously finned magnesium case, the C6’s 3.91 kWh lithium-ion battery powers an electric motor making 15.4 kW, equivalent to around 20 horsepower, and 44 lb-ft of torque. 

Pretty much all electrics overdeliver on torque relative to power, and that’s certainly the case here. For comparison, Royal Enfield’s own Guerrilla 450 makes 39.5 horsepower but just 29.5 lb-ft of torque.

The peak torque translates to a 0 to 60 kmph (~37 mph) time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 115 kmph (about 71 mph).

The range, meanwhile, is claimed to be 154 km, or nearly 96 miles, but EV range may just be the diciest figure on the planet. 

It’s just so dependent on regenerative braking, which means the bikes can be very energy-efficient in crappy gridlocked traffic.

Anytime you escape it, rip the throttle and, you know, actually have fun motorcycling, crippling range anxiety is just around the bend.

In other words, these numbers cement this bike’s appeal as a gorgeous way to get around town, with occasional open road thrills possible, so long as you keep an eye on the battery life meter.

Lean machine

That said, you can’t deny this bike’s potential, not unlike British startup Maeving, to attract a whole bunch of first-time riders that may have never been interested in motorcycling before.

Being electric and not requiring mastery of a manual transmission is one huge step toward that kind of approachability.

So is the C6’s surprising suite of rider-friendly tech, including lean-sensitive dual-channel ABS, switchable rear ABS and multi-level traction control, plus hill-hold assist and bidirectional crawl mode, which should help with parking.  

But also great for parking and so much else is the curb weight of, wait for it, 273 pounds. That’s unquestionably the happiest byproduct of a smaller, range-limited battery.

By comparison, Royal Enfield’s lightest existing bike is the 399-pound Hunter 350. That means the C6 is in fact much closer to Zero’s XB, an electric dirt bike, which weighs 223 pounds.

Even with a 32.4-inch seat height, that shockingly light weight ensures the bike will be quite nimble and easy to handle from the jump, even for newer riders.

In other words, the C6 might be the best-looking, most non-intimidating moto around. That’s gotta count for something, right?

Availability and pricing

Pricing (for the Indian market, at least) will be revealed on Friday. Local moto media expects a price equivalent to roughly $2,600. Details about availability should surely follow.
