We’re on the ground at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2017, scouting the best new gear from the outdoor industry launching in 2018. Ahead of announcing our annual picks for Best in Show, we’re taking a moment each day of the show to share some our favorite items from the floor.

Fjällräven Greenland Eco-Shell Jacket

This new “city to mountain” jacket from Fjällräven is constructed from the brand’s Eco-Shell material — a PVC waterproof breathable membrane. In addition to its technical chops, the Greenland Eco-Shell has a cut and look that doesn’t look out of place in even the trendiest neighborhoods.

Chaco Z Canyon

The Z Canyon is Chaco’s latest exapnsion to its tried and true sandals. Before you get all worked up thinking they’ve changed your go-to summer shoes, the Z Canyon is an addition to the line of Z/1 and Z/2 sandals. The Z Canyon features a flexible rubber heel strap that stays snug to your foot and moves with you.

Mountain Hardware Crux Denim Jean

Yes, it’s another outdoor-focused denim jean, but Mountain Hardwear’s new Crux is definitely noteworthy. It’s made with Dyneema denim, which is one of the strongest fibers in the world. Sure it’s marketed towards climbers, but there’s no reason you couldn’t find yourself building a wooden table by hand or saddling up at the local bar in them. The Crux jeans will be available in spring of 2018 and will retail for $150.

Under Armour Horizon 50

For spring of 2018, Under Armour is releasing a new trail shoe based on its Horizon platform. The shoe is called the Horizon 50 and is aimed at trail-focused ultra runners. It features a built-in gaitor/gusset that keeps out debris and mud. The shoe runs true to size and offers plenty of cushioning for long trail runs.

Ural Motorcycles

Ural Motorcycles aren’t new — in fact, it’s just the opposite (but it’s the brand’s first time at Outdoor Retailer). The company was founded in 1941 and is of Russian heritage — they were used heavily during World War II. Today, the brand is based in Washington and makes sidecar motorcycles built to take on even the toughest terrain. One of the coolest features, is the ability to put the bike in two wheel drive — the driveshaft can be connected to the wheel on the sidecar making the bike virtually unstoppable.
