L.L.Bean’s latest sleeping bag, the Ultralight, is (as its very straightforward name suggests) built for lightweight hiking and camping. The Ultralight comes in 20- and 35-degree models and is equipped with handy features including a small stash pocket and an extra-roomy footbox, but the real innovation is the bag’s insulation. The Ultralight uses PrimaLoft Gold with Cross-Core technology, an insulation developed for NASA that uses aerogel to increase warmth substantially without adding to the sleeping bag’s overall weight.
