We all get to the point where we just want to be alone. For those who use camping excursions as that outlet, rejoice. The Easton Kilo 1P ($348) is here. Weighing in at a hair over two pounds with short folding poles, it fits in nearly any pack perfectly and unnoticeably. It’s time to replace that bivy, boys.
The tent’s poles are made from carbon fiber, which is great for weight, but has a tendency to splinter rather than bend, so you Hulk Hogans, beware. The special AirLock system also uses a small monofilament fiber only at each connection point of the pole. This makes for a stronger and lighter option than its more popular cousin – the bungee. The full mesh body, similarly, allows for superior ventilation and great stargazing at night, and its 39 inches of interior headspace makes moving around easy. Not bad for a brand known for baseball bats and sportswear.
