These Pro Surfer-Designed Sunglasses Have One Weird Feature That Totally Works

John John Florence teamed up with Electric to put out some pretty distinctive new shades.

John John Florence knows a bit about the sun. After all, the 2017 World Surf League Men’s Champ has spent the past several years bathing in it while winning more than a dozen pro titles. So when he collaborates with Electric to design sunglasses, we’re inclined to take notice.

Available in three colorways, the new JJF12 sunnies boast a featherweight frame with a double-action hinge and Polarized Pro lenses for 100 percent UV protection, 99.9 percent premium glare protection and 98 percent blue light protection. The lenses also boast scratch resistant and hydrophobic qualities.

But we’re burying the lead: the standout feature of these shades is the removable eye mask, a pair of translucent cups that protect your peepers from sun, wind, water and dust. Leave them off when you are just chilling on the beach, then pull ’em out of the microfiber cleaning bag when you need a little extra shielding from the elements. Best part? The JJF12s look pretty cool either way.
