For those unfamiliar, the common dace (Leuciscus leuciscus) is an iridescent blue freshwater ray-finned fish native to Europe that has since been introduced to other parts of the world.
Considering the fact that US knife designer Joe Mangiafico is an avid angler, it is perhaps no surprise he chose this scaly swimmer as the namesake for his latest lovely EDC knife.

Having previously designed a blade called The Brook — and with an upcoming one dubbed the Canoe — he’s clearly drawn to aquatic-inspired monikers.
Like the fish, the Böker Plus The Dace is nimble, quick, adaptable and, of course, beautifully blue.

Before we dive in, a couple of quick extra notes about the name: The Böker Plus label applies to knives that, the brand says, “combine cutting-edge innovation with stylish design and everyday reliability.”
While all are developed under the watchful gaze of the experts at Böker HQ in Solingen, Germany, the designer pool and manufacturing facilities are much more global.
