In the world of EDC multi-tools, there are a couple of major schools of thought. There’s the Leatherman route: crafting complex, overbuilt, feature-packed folding tools that can do a little bit of everything. And then there’s the minimalist approach, which sees just a few highly-focused tools put into a more compact, pocket-friendly package.

While they both have their time and place, the latter is, generally, a lot more EDC and adventure-friendly, as it cuts down on bulk in favor of a bit more focus. For proof, just have a gander at the Prometheus Design Werx SPD Ti-Spork Chop.

The Ti-Spork Chop’s construction and design are of utmost importance in explaining what makes it so great. This is a one-piece multi-tool. While that might seem self-explanatory, it still bears explaining: it has no folding bits, no hinges, no moving parts whatsoever.

As such, that means there are fewer weak points and less chance for dirt, grime and other gunk to impede its functionality. That also means it requires less maintenance and care over time. Just keep it clean and it’ll keep right on working.

Of course, it is still made of metal, which comes with its own necessary maintenance … or does it? The Ti-Spork Chop is made from a single piece of solid titanium, rather than stainless steel. That means it’s non-magnetic and, more importantly, practically impervious to corrosion (a.k.a, it’s rustproof).

It’s also incredibly strong and lightweight. Despite measuring 4.72 inches in length, it weighs only 1.058 ounces total. That’s light enough that you might forget you’re carrying it. However, you’ll be happy to have it when you do need it, as it is packed with functionality.

Being strong, light and minimalist will only get you so far, especially for a multi-tool. The real core of its value is what it can do for you day in and day out. Not to fret: this one has your basics (and more) covered.

All told, PDW says this tool has six built-in functions. That starts with a spork, the combination fork and spoon from which it derives its name. This tool is highly useful for EDCers who pack a bagged lunch, but it’s arguably even more valuable for hikers and campers who want to have some food on the go (like MREs or campground chili and the like).

That said, its most valuable EDC functionality might be found on the other end, where the tool has an integrated pry bar that doubles as a boxcutter. Then again, if you’re a big beer drinker, you might feel more drawn to the integrated bottle opener. There’s also a lanyard hole and pocket clip for easier carrying.

And those are just the obvious, listed features. With a little cleverness, intrepid adventurers are sure to figure out a few other hidden capabilities. That makes for a whole lot of value in a tool that falls under $80.
