Tacray might not be among the brands that first come to mind when you think about EDC knives and multi-tools, but that could (and probably should) change soon.

The up-and-coming outfit has been quietly making big moves and producing impressive innovations, such as its Micarta integral folding knife and ultra-thin Tiran II pocket blade.

Its latest launch? A serious upgrade to its already impressive Tacray Vinto keychain multi-tool.

Tiny titan

The original Tacray Vinto came out at the tail end of last year. And while the launch was quiet, the tool is actually very impressive.

About the same size as a house key when closed (2.6 inches), this EDC multi-tool is positively compact. It’s also incredibly lightweight, thanks to its G-10 handle.

This new take, however, improves upon that design with one simple change: the handle has been swapped from G-10 to titanium.

It might seem like a small alteration, but it makes a big difference. Now, the Vinto is even stronger than before, without sacrificing an ounce of what makes it such a compelling everyday carry tool.

Better still, it’s still remarkably affordable, checking in at $40 (or less if you catch it on sale). Granted, that’s nearly double the price of the original, but that’s a small ask for such a big upgrade.

Small footprint, big impact

Clearly, the new titanium handle is a crucial upgrade. However, it wouldn’t matter much if it didn’t have the same utility to offer. Luckily, it retains everything else that made it exceptional.

That starts with a carabiner clip that makes attaching it or removing it from your keychain, pack, belt loop or whatever else a split-second cinch.

Now, the Vinto is even stronger than before, without sacrificing an ounce of what makes it such a compelling everyday carry tool.

But it’s arguably the other end that’s the most significant. Opposite the carabiner, you’ll find two tool attachments, both of which have their own independent button locks (which lock in both closed and open positions).

One is a 1.38-inch 10Cr15MoV steel tanto blade, which works great as a go-to EDC knife. The other, also made from 10Cr15MoV steel, is a multi-tool boasting bottle opener, flathead driver and seatbelt cutter functionality (and more).

That’s all in a package so lightweight, it’s practically negligible. Not bad, Tacray. Not bad at all.

Availability and pricing

The Tacray Vinto in titanium is now available on Amazon for just $36, down from the MSRP of $40 (which is still exceptionally affordable).

Tacray Vinto Titanium

Usually, EDC multi-tools sacrifice big features in favor of a small footprint. Then, there’s the Tacray Vinto, which packs a wallop and yet it can still easily fit on most folks’ keychains. This implement has a 10Cr15MoV steel blade and multi-functional attachment (with a bottle opener, driver, seatbelt cutter and more), both of which are secured with a button lock, and yet it measures just 2.6 inches when closed and has an integrated carabiner. It also just got a big bonus in the form of a titanium frame that makes it stronger and tougher than ever without adding any bulk.
