While Vans has remained a style mainstay for much of its 60-year existence, the legacy skate brand’s new releases have been on a real heater lately.

2026 shows no signs of the Off the Wall brand slowing down, with exciting debuts including a premium boat shoe, a subtly refined loafer sneaker, retro-inspired flat soled styles and now a burly, trail-ready take on one of its most famous designs via a collaboration with OAMC.

Theory of evolution

The Half Cab is defined by evolution. The icon known and loved today was born when skaters cut down the original 1989 high-top Caballero to gain better ankle mobility while street skating.

Taking note of that DIY improvement, Vans officially launched the Half Cab in 1992, and the modified style has since become one of the most influential shoes in skate history and mainstream culture.

In its three decades of existence, the Half Cab has undergone many transformations; now, in 2026, the silhouette is entering another evolutionary phase, thanks to an upcoming capsule collection from Vans and OAMC.

In November 2025, the two brands debuted a three-way collaboration with WTAPS, resulting in a military-inspired, winter-ready shoe called the Seylynn Lug.

February’s upcoming capsule continues the heavy-duty ruggedization theme of that first release, this time applied to two iconic Vans styles: the Half Cab and the Authentic.

Heavy-duty design

The Half Cab Boot retools the classic silhouette with utilitarian use in mind. A durable olive camo upper mimics trail-ready boots, featuring tougher materials and hardware. There’s even an inset zip pocket just below the collar.

The most notable update is the Vibram outsole, which replaces the shoe’s standard vulcanized rubber. The Vibram addition doesn’t just enhance the capable aesthetic; it’s built to thrive in tough conditions.

The Vans x OAMC Half Cab Boot will be available in a monochromatic blacked-out suede, as well as a military-inspired olive camouflage version.
