Of all the high-end knifemaking brands currently operating, We Knife is among the most prolific. And that’s no exaggeration — the brand currently offers over 630 individual products (and that’s just what’s currently live on the site, excluding any products that have been phased out or discontinued.)

Yet, the brand still manages to impress time and time again. The latest in that trend is the We Knife Skynix, which serves as another prime example of just how well this brand balances style, precision engineering and high-end materials.

There are five distinct configurations of the Skynix, each a stunner in its own right.

From an outsider’s perspective, this might appear to be a typical knife. After all, it has a blade, a handle and a pivot — all the essential elements. However, a trained eye will notice its peculiarities.

For starters, the blade — which measures 3.7 inches — isn’t actually a drop point or clip point (two of the most widely-employed shapes). Rather, it’s a subtle take on a trailing point, evidenced by the slope of its spine and how it starts to turn upward toward the end.

That blade also has an elegant grind that accentuates its blade shape while maintaining strength where necessary and precision elsewhere.

The knife also features dual deployment methods, in the form of a flipper and ambidextrous thumb studs. It also gets ergonomic finger choils, a slightly curved handle and a jimped blade spine for better precision and power control.

Lastly, stylistically speaking, I just want to point out the trio of circular cutouts in the upper part of the handle, which are a nice element on their own but are balanced and contrasted by a trio of inlays on the pocket clip.

Elevated by inlays

Speaking of materials, this knife has a lot of impressive elements. Four of the five configurations, for instance, have Böhler M390 super steel blades. The fifth and last, however, is the most opulent of them all, boasting Damasteel.

Two of the five knives also have black finishes on their blades, which adds a little more character and durability.

But the handle is where the Skynix really shines. All five knives have a titanium base handle, which allows them all to have their own individual anodized finishes. However, they’re also lightweight and extremely strong.

Beyond the base handle, the knives also have inlays. Four of the five feature carbon fiber in various colors and patterns. And the fifth gets uniquely anodized titanium (which is reflected in the pocket clip inlays, making for a nice, exclusive touch.)

It wouldn’t be right to call the Skynix subtle; it’s a very bold knife. However, it does have clever details that are more easily ascertained with a keen eye. An astute observer will realize that this knife is special in more ways than one.
