A Budget-Friendly Blazer Built to Stand the Test of Time

Made from Italian fabric and backed with three decades of repairs, free of charge.

Tom Cridland

Founded in January of 2014, Tom Cridland is dedicated to producing sustainable clothing that’s not only constructed from top-quality fabric, but also made to last. The latest garment offered by the brand, the 30 Year Jacket ($346), is made from Italian wool and is backed with three decades of free mending. Handmade blazers, often costing three times the amount of Cridland’s, can stand up to decades of wear, but don’t come with such a strong guarantee.

Released on a limited run of 500 pieces, the jacket is designed in Britain, then made by a family of craftsmen in Portugal who have been producing clothing since 1964. It’s made from 100 percent merino wool, the fibers are ring spun (for comfort and durability) and the fabric is treated with silicon to prevent shrinking. The jacket is available in more conservative colors, such as navy, charcoal and camel, as well as bright spring colors like Seville Orange, Chilli Red and Electric Blue. With the 30 Year collection (the 30 Year Jacket was preceded by a 30 Year Sweatshirt and T-Shirt), the brand makes a stand against fast fashion, and for under $350 you can have a jacket that not only looks sharp, but will stand up to years of daily wear.
