“I’ve always been an admirer of Cool Hunting,” said Tumi Creative Director Victor Sanz in light of the two brands’ latest collaboration, the Otis Backpack. “Cool Hunting appeals to a customer that understands design, travel and innovation. It was great to bring in new people to the design process.”
The Otis, the third Cool Hunting collaboration with Tumi, shares key elements with duo’s military-inspired T-Tech Rucksack released in 2013, including side pockets, closed-loop shoulder straps and a hidden document sleeve in the back panel. Instead of waxed canvas, however, the Otis is housed in navy Drahar, a durable, water-repellent canvas from Italy. It also features compartments for a tablet and 15-inch laptop, as well as gusseted side pockets to increase the volume during longer trips.
“This backpack really caters to a wide variety of people — from people who are going on one-day business trips, to people that are going from the office to the gym or to the bar,” Sanz said. “It has a lot of flexibility for both business and travel. For us, we are always looking to improve people’s journeys and make their travel experiences as easy as possible.”
