We Just Found Your New Summer Shades

Produced by Pilgrim Surf Supply’s design studio alongside an American icon of optics and eyewear.

“After a drawn out look in the mirror Edu says, ‘Sweet fucking shades,’ squints a little bit and walks away, head bobbing to an imaginary tropicalia beat playing in the background.” So goes the product description (if one can call it that) of the Edu sunglasses, one of many styles from the newly-launched eyewear brand Ahnah.

Ahnah is the brainchild of Pilgrim Surf Supply’s design studio. It produces shades made right here in the U.S. and boasts sustainably sourced acetate frames as well as high-quality lenses from the renowned optics company Eastman (formerly of Eastman-Kodak, the camera and optics company that split up decades ago).

Eastman’s lenses are touted as being both tougher and clearer than a traditional tinted eyeglass lens, and the specific composite is chemically compatible with the acetate used by Ahnah for the Edu frames — an important distinction that determines whether the connection between the lenses and frames will deteriorate over time. These won’t.
