It may lack the clout of the Juliet and the wow factor of the Overthetop, but the Scar has all the components of an Oakley classic.
Released in 2001, around the same time as the X-Metal series, the design introduced something no one had seen before: a wraparound frame with a large metal hinge.


Like it or not, the Scar’s futuristic look was enough to convince the art department of Die Another Day to codify it in film.
Pierce Brosnan’s Bond wears the Scar about halfway through the movie, where they even come equipped with virtual-reality technology courtesy of Q.
“It’s called the future,” Q says, removing the glasses from Bond’s face before escorting him to an underground lab.
