Triumph’s Coolest New Product Isn’t a Motorcycle

To be honest, you don’t even really need to ride to appreciate and snag this stylish, quietly technical release.

There’s no shortage of great motorcycle jackets in this world, but the vast majority of them are not exactly what you’d call “versatile.”

They look and perform great on the bike, but once you’re off it, they have a tendency to scream, “I ride a motorcycle!” That’s not always desirable when you’re knocking around town.

While it may look like a typical denim jacket, the Jax is packed with motorcycling-specific features.

That’s what makes Triumph’s new moto jacket so refreshing.

The secretly super-capable Jax Denim Riding Jacket looks so casually cool, you don’t even really need to ride to rock it.

Type II fun

On the surface, this pitch-perfect release taps into one of the most iconic denim jacket styles of the past 70 years.

Launched by Levi’s in 1953, what is now called the Type II iterates upon the brand’s OG Type I (from 1901) with not one but two chest pockets and two side waist adjustments instead of a back cinch.

Helped along by Kendrick Lamar and Saquon Barkley, among others, the style has been enjoying a huge resurgence of late.

What’s unique about Triumph’s take on the Type II, of course, is that it packs all that style and a number of rider-friendly touches that fly well under the radar.

Pre-washed for a worn-in look, the single-layer 14oz ARMALITH denim (75% cotton/24% polyamide/1% elastane) is notably abrasion-resistant, a trait we all hope to never truly test.

Meanwhile, a breathable mesh lining boosts air circulation and back pleats improve flexibility, a must for café racers, sport bikes and anything requiring a more aggressive posture.

CE certified to EN 17092, the Jax also packs (CE certified to EN 1621-1) D3O Ghost Shoulder and Elbow Protectors, which are removable for washing or when wearing the jacket purely for style reasons.

For those who want more armor, the jacket also accommodates a D3O Stealth Viper Back Protector (sold separately).

The Jax even keeps things low-profile on the branding front; only those who look closely will clock the antique copper shank buttons festooned with the Triumph logo.
