FujiFilm X10 Compact Camera

Impressive Successor

After the stealing the hearts of photography world with the launch of the X100, FujiFlim is hoping lightening strikes twice with the official announcement of the X10. Designed with the same retrotastic aesthetic as its bigger brother, the X10 features a black magnesium alloy housing and knurled aluminum controls, for a weighty, rich feel in the hand. Other lust-worthy features include a quick f/2-2.8, 28-112mm manual zoom lens with a proprietary “Electron Beam Coating”, 12 megapixel EXR CMOS sensor, ISO of 12,800, 1080p video capture, 7fps continuous shooting at full resolution and a 460K dot high contrast LCD screen. A pop-up flash, optical viewfinder, full-size hot shoe, RAW capture, ten millisecond shutter lag and a bevy of manual controls and shooting modes ice off the small but mighty cake. While pricing has yet to be announced, it’s safe to bet to assume it’ll start somewhere above the $500 range. Considering the X10s destroys competing models like the Canon G12, Nikon P7100, and Lumix LX5 from a spec standpoint, serious photographers shouldn’t think twice about paying a slight premium — let alone knocking a fellow buyer unconscious with inventory gets tight. Availability is scheduled for some time this November.
