The Polaroid iM1836 camera isn’t the first Android powered shooter we’ve seen, not even from Polaroid, but it is the first mirrorless interchangeable lens shooter of its kind. A 10-30mm lens kit ships with the device, but we expect other lenses will follow. Plus, this albino wonder is compatible with existing micro four-thirds lenses via a mount adapter. Other key hardware goodies include an 18.1MP sensor capable of 1080p video, wi-fi, a pop-up flash, Bluetooth and a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen LCD display.
On the software front, it’ll ship with Android 4.1 (Jellybean) — which in theory allow users to easily share photos via social networks, and edit them on the fly through the multitude of apps in the Android marketplace. Specifics beyond that still haven’t been shared. Polaroid says consumers can expect the iM1836 to ship in Q1 of this year for an astounding price of $399 (that includes the aforementioned 10-33mm lens). If you could care less about Android, the wi-fi-only iM1232W and non-wi-fi iM1030 provide similar imaging for even less at $349 and $299, respectively.
