Recently, Apple has been pretty active in the iPhone accessory game.

In the last two weeks, it has introduced the iPhone Pocket, a 3D-knit carrying sling for your iPhone, which grabbed a ton of headlines for costing upwards of $230. To lesser fanfare, it also started selling several third-party accessories (such as cables, chargers and MagSafe gadgets) in a new Dark Cherry finish.

Now, as first spotted by MacRumors, Apple has started selling a new limited-edition iPhone accessory, one that’s designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of accessibility at the company.

Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand

The ergonomic grip and stand was, according to Apple, developed with “input from individuals with disabilities affecting muscle strength, dexterity, and hand control.”

Apple has partnered with Bailey Hikawa, an LA-based designer known for creating ergonomic iPhone cases, to create the Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand. It’s a MagSafe-compatible grip and stand that’s similar in function to a PocketSockets grip … only it doesn’t fold flat.

What makes it unique is that, according to Apple, it was designed “with direct input from individuals with disabilities affecting muscle strength, dexterity, and hand control.” And thus its ergonomics promise to make it more easily “grip-able” for such individuals.

It’s made of premium silicon and thus promises to be soft to the touch. As a stand, it can prop up your iPhone in either landscape or portrait orientations.

And it grips your iPhone magnetically, so it can be easily removed, which you’d need if you want to fit your iPhone in your pocket or wirelessly charge it.

Price and availability

The limited-edition Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand is available in two colors: Chartreuse (greenish-yellow) and Crater (gray with black and white specs). Both can only be bought from Apple.

At the time of writing, both of these color options appear to be sold out. Apple hasn’t made clear exactly how many it’s going to make or when/if it’s going to restock them.
